4AGE 20V: Tomei Poncam vs. Kelford Cam

Postby MoonGT » Tue Mar 19, 2013 11:17 pm

Will there be any performance difference/advanyage between Tomei PonCams 4AG 5VALVE Camshaft IN 264 Duration - 9.00mm Lift / EX 256 Duration - 9.00mm Lift and Kelford Camtech 194-A Camshaft IN & EX 264 Duration, 8.20 & 8.15mm Lift.

My plan is to replace the stock cams only. Therefore prior moving on I want to get a firm feeling on the replacement from the experts.

I've got a set of these tomei cams, but I'm curious as well

Just buy the Tomei's, it's proven that they add about 14-15 hp out of the box. the Kelford's haven't been tested, but with a shorter lift they'll be more restrictive at higher RPM's

I saw the dyno specs for the tomei 5 valve & it makes good power up to 7500, also stating "excellent turbo response".. :D
Kelford has more cam selections for 20v's, but no dyno charts to compare

Damn, $580? That is a damn good price. Even eBay can only do about $645

Apparently the Tomei's work with the stock springs just fine

Since my store is just starting out I decided to start as low as possible and then up my prices as needed to survive. Right now I would rather be making sales with a small profit margin than making no sales with a large profit margin. If my prices go up it's because they need to, not because I am getting greedy. :D
I have been comparing my prices to other online vendors and ebay to try and price competitively. This was one of the few I actually found better prices from vendors outside ebay. On these I am still under any other prices I could find.

Are you sure you are talking about the 20Vs? The BT has 8.2mm on the intake stock.

Of course it is also entirely dependent on how fast you spin the motor.

That's actually a good point I should have made, the compression length of your spring should have no effect on valve float as long as the spring size is correct overall. Instead it's the spring rate that determines the valves top RPM.
