front wheel bearing question

anyone know if you have to have the front bearings pushed in with a special shop machine?or can i do it yourself?i've never done a wheel bearing and wanted to do it yourself thanks in advance

No special tool required to install the bearing. You'll need a hammer and punch to remove the races and a press to get the new races installed, though. You should get a copy of the service manual. They have a good pictorial diagram on how to replace the bearings.

you don't "need" a press. You can use the old bearing race and a hammer to tap it in.

you can rent a race driver tool from autozone for free (deposit required)

I just did mine and I didnt have to use the tool to get my races in, I was able to slide them in by hand.

If DIY..try not to nick the new bearing race at install,,,with old grease it can get messy,blue shop towels & brakeclean a must :D

yes, it is a messy job. I went through 2 cans of brake cleaner, 1 bottle of purple power and a whole roll of blue shop towels.
