I like turtles.... oh sorry, I thought it looked like we were talking about **** that didn't matter.
Not to sound like a hater or anything but can we keep the internet trash-talking off the build logs? You both built a motor pretty much from the ground up.... that's more than a fair number of people on here and honestly, maybe it's just me, but I hate looking through pages of bitching just to find the pic I wanted to use as a reference for something. Build logs for builds, trash talk in fun stuff or something maybe?

+1. Like I said two great work. I say that since like what he said about that's more than a fair number of people on here that has done that. So props!
Engine looks fcking beautiful like I said in the past and everything happens for a reason. It'll be running like a beast!
Loving all the parts hooked on to the car too!

That is a Formula Vee car. It is a Formula series which has barely changed since it was introduced in the '70s and is one of the most inexpensive ways to go wheel-to-wheel racing. I'd wager your maraca cost more than that whole car. They're based on the drivetrain, suspension, and brakes of a VW Beetle ( drum brakes all the way around!!! ). I like them because they ban aero ( no wings ), and run on such skinny tires. Drivers tend to get sideways rather often. Very fun to watch.

What a crazy awesome build! Did you consider enlarging the diameter of the buckets to better cope with the giant cam? Not sure if that's even possible.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking paddle shifter or sequential shifter would be a nice addition
(I could not find SS Works URL but I will keep looking)

Yeah would take extensive work to make a IRS setup on these cars...think the wats link is a good option but i watched the last N2 race which Keichi won in the N2 Levin and everyone had watts link setups but not his car....

Hot Staff did a bolt in IRS frame I don't remember what rear end it suited, S13 or MX-5 etc.

I thought about posting a very common internet meme to sum up my experience of reading/looking at page 1.
But no, this build is beyond such immature gestures. Much beyond that.
Bravo sir!...bravo.

This really is an awesome building!!!
I like the facts that you posted a lot of pictures with it
I'm glad and proud rebuilding the stock 4AGE Blacktop, but i really feel a n00b right now after seeing this haha! But i really respect you to put so much money and effort in the engine. This is one of the...no just the most amazing 4AGE NA builds i've ever seen!
Just one question though. The stock oil pump will be enough for a stock (or light modded) blacktop, wouldn't it?
I only have two thumbs, but i'm putting three up for this amazing project!

stock oil pump is good to about 9k rpm. Some have used them higher, but they also tend to fail more often above 9k rpm

Re: CONSUMER 5.5ag 20v Coupe...dedicated to Orions Demise!
Thanks fellas....as Dan said the stock pump should be sufficient for stock and slightly modified builds...my pump has a Toda pump gear in it which greatly reduces high speed/high rpm failure...also has a different springs setup which increases the oil pressure in the engine...my engine will be a 10000 rpm setup but wont spend all its time in that level like the formula atlantic race engines so I decided to stick with the wetsump setup for now....

Bolt on you can do yourself, thinner headgasket, tomei cams, velocity stacks from SQ Engineering and a set of valves i sell should give u about 30hp gains with what u currently have

in the dyno with a bad injector and number 1 rod bent and without velocity stacks and factory fuel pump and factory fuel regulator i made 132hp and 107 torq.... i think that now with a new botton end with second generation rods, factory head shaved more and your recomendation can i have the numbers you tell me?? im a good mecanic but never have a 4age 20v this is my first.

Re: CONSUMER 5.5ag 20v Coupe...dedicated to Orions Demise!
key to any good engine is the head fellas....u need a good flowing head to make good numbers....bottom end is just part of the equation....i see alot of guys build their block up but dont do anything to the heads and thats fine and dandy for turbo setups but in N/A u need to concentrate more on the head then the block...cams are good but u need to open to ports so the engine can breathe better since u gave it the tools to do so....valves, port jobs, valve jobs...velocity stacks and headers all work hand in hand....once u got that then u can bump compression, bore out for more displacement......u wont get the full potential of a built bottom end without a built head...so instead of dumping 1-2 grand in the block use that for the head...

the head is where all the power is hiding!
have you seen this, Gaijin?
http://www.lceperformance.com/Stage-5-Cylinder-Head-w-Camshaft-4AG-Small-Port-p/1021090.htm
fully CNC'd with monster cams and everything. all for $3500
Our Stage 5 Cylinder heads for the 4AG start with select core castings, then go through LCE's extensive quality control and inspection process. Once they pass inspection, they get an extensive CNC port job, opening up the intake and exhaust ports, as well as the bowl area to flow incredibly better than the stock runners. The chamber also gets some massaging to increase combustion efficiency and power. Once the castings are worked over, they get new valve seats installed, and the assembly process begins. We fill the head with high-quality parts such as dual valve springs, viton valve seals, Titanium retainers, and our 28mm Pro cam buckets. The 4AG race head features stainless steel 30.5mm Intake and 25.5mm Exhaust valves that feature a special anti-friction coating for better flow and reduced drag, resulting in better valvetrain stability. Once the valves and springs are installed, we add our stage 2 intake and exhaust cams to take advantage of the increased flow characteristics of the head. The intake cam checks in at .400 lift and 256 duration @ .050, and the exhaust cam measures .410 lift and 252 duration @ .050. Put this head on your prepared 4AG short block, and proceed to make some serious horsepower and dominate the competition!

seems rather expensive to me.....titanium retainers not so good on anything other then a engine that gets rebuilt often....cams seem low duration....think u can get better for this for around 2000-2500

the company makes them for sandrails and stuff. I dont really care about the titanium and what not.. more interested in the CNC porting and what not. though im sure it will be too much for a street car.
I dunno how to read the cam card type info. How does this get translated to something I can understand? 252 @ .050? how does it compare to HKS 304, 10mm lift?
