Hi all,
Any idea where I can get a set of the 4AGZE 8.9 pistons?
Other than Toyota of course.
Cheers
Alex

Re: 4AGZE Pistons
I got mine from Lithia Toyota back when there was someone there (Aaron maybe?) who would be able to order parts from Toyota Japan. I also had a coupon code, around this time of year, so I got them for a bit less.

Re: 4AGZE Pistons
I've found that there are a few companies in New Zealand do 4AGE and 4AGZE performance parts.
SQ-Engineering and MRPLtd do the 8.9 pistons that I'm after. Will have to weigh up the cost if I can actually get them from Toyota at all anymore.
Cheers guys.

Re: 4AGZE Pistons
after seeing what DSM, buick GNs, ford 2.3s, etc put their cheap stock cast pistons thru... I'm sold
Can't bring myself to plunk down $5-600 for a 'noisy' set of forged pistons
More bad news ? Some DSMs run 30-35+psi on $90 ebay pistons.
Finding that "GZE equivalent", would b my top priority

Re: 4AGZE Pistons
I see what you are saying but given how difficult it is to get a hold of a good GZE block, i'd rather not put some cheap pistons in and destroy my block if they were to give up. Some things I've bought which are equivalents but not going to go down that route with the internals.
Re: 4AGZE Pistons
not just any "cheap pistons".... but a proven "cheap" piston, is the message. Huge difference
if a 3000 pound 2.0L street car runs 10.1sec 1/4s! with those $90 pos pistons for years... good enough for me
No gze piston will c that sorta abuse
A bad tune can & will melt a forge piston and score a block
Rod big end issues can poke a hole in a block. Bad tune, wrong oil, etc..
Toyota, ford, buick, mitsu, all waranty boosted cars with cheap pistons, and endured us knuckleheads squeezing 2-3 times the hp
I only mention an inexpensive piston as a viable option. Personal preference

Re: 4AGZE Pistons
To be honest I've rinsed the internet looking for 4AGZE pistons and I just cannot find anything forged or cast, it doesn't come up with many options at all. I guess the world is running low on these parts as they are getting a bit old now
Re: 4AGZE Pistons
NPR made the pistons and rings in the DSM mentioned above. They also made the oem GZE rings from what I've read
NPR make pistons for a bunch of imports and toyotas, but I couldn't find any 4AG or GZE pistons/rimg set
That's too nad, as they've really proven rugged under boost, with unmatched value
Here is one 7M-GTE supra testimonial:

u can always go the forged custom expensive route. I'd think wiseco, venolia, CP, Ross, etc. would have a 4AG on file

Matrix Garage also has 16v pistons listed (and 20v on another page):

FWIW in New Zealand they are about the same through Toyota NZ as what they sell them for if you can get a trade discount.
That is what I have run in my race car for years and never had a piston failure,
and usually run between 4-500 hp on them.
There are probably better pistons out there,
but there are probably a lot of not as good ones too.
