Re: red top best exhaust setting ?
I like to set my exhaust at 4 for driving on the road and about 7 for racing.
What kind of something else are you thinking? Most exhaust systems will need an header and a muffler. Even most race tracks these days have sound requirements that make it necessary to run a muffler.
Unless it's a pure 100% race car you should also run a cat.
I'm really not sure what you are asking though.

The adjustment knob is right next to the blinker fluid reservoir.

Generally any restriction such as a muffler will make less horsepower. That said, in any properly designed system for something like a cat or a muffler you are talking about a couple percent loss in power. In an NA 4AGE that would come out to one to two horsepower at best. On a dyno you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference. Unless you are making a race car, design the exhaust system to sound good and meet the level of noise that you prefer.

As long as the mufflers are not restrictive, it doesn't really matter how many you have. They won't affect power if done right. More noise doesn't necessarily mean more power.

Re: red top best exhaust setting ?
generally a diameter about 54mm , for a properly rebuilded 16v engine and a 20v header and a compression about 10.6, do you believe that is decent?
Re: red top best exhaust setting ?
I think a stock rebuild 16V won't absolutely need more then 2". Even the Blacktop is satisfied with 2" though 2.25" is advised by most people. I have a 2.5" stock 7AFE cat with the stock 20V head on my blacktop and i'm going for a 2.25" middle section and 2" end section of the exhaust. Now i have the stock 7AFE exhaust which has a 1.75" middle section and 1.5"!! end section. So somehow Toyota thinks its best to have a smaller end section. I remember someone telling this has to do with keeping the velocity in the exhaust.
