Smallport Inlet Manifold
Hi Guys,
I now have a smallport cylinder head c/w big port adaptor plate.
I am trying to source a fuel rail, but struggling tbh, but they are around, just got to stay patient.
I am however not finding a smallport inlet manifold. Are there any other manifolds that fit the smallport head? The 4AFE looks similar, but ports are too square...
Any feedback appreciated
Many Thanks
Alex

Re: Smallport Inlet Manifold
its PITA to fit a Smallport intake manifold on rwd. Cut and shut or flip the whole intake around.
I have seen a honda B series intake manifold welded to a 4a intake flange.

I thought they were the same, except the runners different shape?

That'd replace my TVIS AW11 manifold like for like or am I missing something?

Mj is saying that it's not easy to fit on a rear wheel drive car because the throttle body would point at the firewall. However, it's probably not a problem on fwd and mr vehicles.

If you want a RWD setup just use the factory AE86 intake manifold. Bolts right up
with the adaptor plate and no cutting, welding or mongrel combinations

Re: Smallport Inlet Manifold
they seem to be impossible to find for sale, especially in the UK
Re: Smallport Inlet Manifold
Ahhh... no location stated (hint) so I assumed you were in the US
They are not so hard to find here in NZ... local auction site has one for sale right now...

Shipping on something like that would be kind of expensive. Don't know if it helps
but poking around in countries like NZ that imported many shiploads of used Jap cars
would be one way to go.

Re: Smallport Inlet Manifold
There's also at least two different smallport IMs. The JDM one as pictured above, with no EGR port, and the USDM (elsewhere too possibly) one that has the EGR port. It's located on the oval sort of area to the left of the TB and directly below the top ribbing. In the middle of that you can see a circle on the blank spot where the EGR port would be.

Re: Smallport Inlet Manifold
I have heard the smallports are much more common in Aus and I would assume also NZ. I have heard a couple people in Aus say it's easier to find smallports and parts than LP. Here in the US they are hens teeth. Much easier to find JDM 20 valves. For some reason importers have never bothered to bring many SPs in. Probably because if people are going to spend that kind of money they would rather just go 20v anyway.
