Re: 5.5ag 20v Coupe
Thanks fellas...this is my last 4ag im building....wrapping up my 20 years of AE86/4ag experience with an all out engine...only thing I havent done to this engine is a dry sump setup...maybe in the future....next build im vnturing over to the 3sge Beams engines see what those things can do..

How many would you say you've built? Sir it's truly a art. And I'm pretty sure many on this site drools over the engine you are building up now!
I heard you can pull off from stock 350zs with the 3sge. But beams with itbs! A dream come true lol. 6speed what could go wrong? Besides getting parts seem to be hard lol. But seems like you won't have any problems. Magnificent build! Keep it upp.
*thumbsup*

Re: 5.5ag 20v Coupe
Back to the Dyno Thursday.....Adaptronic hooked me up with an individual cylinder tuning option for free so now I will have 4 individual maps, one per cylinder after 4000 rpm just like QRE tunes their formula atlantic engines...Had to send out my injectors again and they just got back.....one dead injector all the rest cleaned and rebuilt....RC Injector screwed me out of 175 dollars...they supposedly did the same thing but the injector place that re-did the process said no way these injectors have been cleaned in the past 10 years.....Ive heard stories about RC doing that to people...fabricating up flow charts and slapping new seals on your injectors without even doing the process......anyhow keep you all posted with the results next week and video!!!

This build makes me feel inadequate.
Re: 5.5ag 20v Coupe
Dope build.. Looking forward to seeing the numbers etc. question... How streetable do you think this engine will be? Idle etc... Especially with the aggressive cam setup..?

Re: 5.5ag 20v Coupe
Should be very streetable...lots more low end torque to make up for the cams and lack of vvt...idle is actually very very stable and suprisingly smooth, im going to test the ICV to see if it gets any better but dont really need it....only reason for it not to be a daily driver is the fact that it only runs on 110 octane and as you know you cant just pull up to the pump to fill her up!

Very good....
I'm planting about 170 @ 8000... and that is my peak. I anxiously anticipate the engine dyno sheet, as well as the final dyno from the wheels.

Re: 5.5ag 20v Coupe
this ish is ridiculously awesome! Good Job!
Taking it to 10k after the 9k dyno run?
I would like to see the diff between the engine dyno and the chassis dyno. I would have liked to see a before and after dyno with the t50 and the 6 speed tranny. but i am sure this engine will never see a t50.

Re: 5.5ag 20v Coupe
i think a t50 would be scared shitless of this beast. it would break itself before being bolted up.
nice work Tony, let us know the #'s after the 9k run please

Re: 5.5ag 20v Coupe
will do .....will post dyno sheets and video after we are all done...engines on the dyno now....not giving any final numbers yet lol...yeah t50 is long gone.....wont ever touch my car again haha....dont want to do anything over 9500 even though it can probably go to 11000 rather not try and see what the max is at my expense haha...plus Sandy said anything 10000 and up kills the rod bearings and dont care to replace those either...might push to 9800 maybe lol...im thinking 250 bhp will be about 200 rwhp then again im going to be using a better tranny and a carbon shaft which will free up hp loss compared to the t50 and 2 piece shaft...so we will see...my buddy said he read an article a while back about the f20c being one of the best 4 cylinders made and had 125hp per liter until Ferrari came out with something in 2010....240 on a 1800cc gives my engine 133hp per liter ...and 250 gives it 138hp per liter....id say thats pretty damn good!

Re: 5.5ag 20v Coupe
Bad news unfortunetly the engine had a valve problem on the dyno today but made 240hp and 155 ftlbs torque at 8500 before it was shut off...Sandy at the shop said the lowest torque figure was 140 ftlb which is outstanding...he also said with a dry sump, longer runner intake and a little more c/r this thing would of made 280hp range bo problem he was very impressed...anyhow we suspect incorrect valve to piston clearence in the number 2 cylinder as one of the valve hit a piston over and over till it snapped which in turn tore up the piston and other valves...heading to the shop tomorrow to see the damage...they are investigating if its a part problem which would mean coat to rebuild is out of my pocket or builder error which they would cover everything free of charge...called Zeke down at Ferrea and he told me the valves i have are top of the line before titanium and are not made to break but bend and that fact that one broke means it hit the piston continuously till it snapped again meaning inproper valve clearence...anyhow keep u posted will probably take a while to rebuild since everything is custom more then likely need a new head which will require a whole new port and valve job as well as flow benching then if the cylinder wall is trashed a whole new block...no fixing 83mm bores... On a good note made more hp then the f20 and f22 as well as a FA so my money is well spent in my book....pictures to come
