4age 16v oil pressure

Postby kwazydrvr » Wed Apr 03, 2013 12:18 pm

So i have one of these engines, redtop, oil cooled pistons etc. my concern is that regardless of how much i'm revving the gauge does not go much beyond the half mark. the engine is in a AE92 JDM Gt Apex Levin so it uses the analog oil pressure gauge. so whats the average idling psi for it and how else can i check to see what the current idling psi is (is there a tool that i can use or a d.i.y. step that i can take)? also what psi is considered to be unsafe for a bone stock engine? Comments appreciated.

Sounds normal.

Do you have the owner's manual? (There's a picture in the manual that shows the acceptable ranges for driving and idling.)

They sell oil pressure diagnostic tools, but imo you'd be better off buying an aftermarket oil pressure gauge to mount in the cabin. They're more accurate than the oem gauge, they also have better resolution, and you can actually monitor oil pressure in psi.
