Ordered new bearings and a 4.5 final drive for my celica supra axle, getting it ready to install into the corolla.
Re: What did you do to your car today?
Finally got it running! I got it without knowing if it runs or not but for $1000, this rust-free GTS was a steal!
Re: What did you do to your car today?
I ordered some velocity stack screens!

Bought and installed matching pink wheel locks (somewhat):
...hopefully they fade to match the regular lug nuts.

Ripped apart the front end. Both strut/hub assemblies laying on the concrete. Control arms loose. Sway bar dangling. Power steering waiting for removal. Mountain of parts waiting in the backdrop. Newsflash - It's old, **** broke.

Re: What did you do to your car today?
Nothing for a while (no garage, car is in storage), but I've been accumulating parts and designing new parts for it. By the time I get done it'll be less corolla, more something else.
Hell only stock thing on it is going to be the front crossmember and much of the body, I'm still debating doing rear tube frame, and I've been looking into turbocharging the 1uz (estimated weight puts me in line with an insane power to weight ratio should I add a snail).
So much to do, so little time, and so many things to make for this swap.

Im new to the AE86 community, I am currently addressing the power steering rack bushing replacement. There is a whole laundry list of things i will be taking care of. I probably should document it but i feel most of these things have already been done.
Re: What did you do to your car today?
In the process of painting some wheels. Already did 2 but i'm not happy with them so far. They looked pretty good in primer and now that color went on the face of the wheels looks bumpy and the paint reacted on some places. I'll wetsand the bad spots and put several new coats on. Hopefully i can get them to look half decent. Should've left them in the old color.

Re: What did you do to your car today?
^^Sanded out the bad spots, wetsanded the whole shebang and did several new coats. Looks much better but still not 100% happy. But they're staying like this cause i'm almost fed up with painting ****, still need to do 2 more.

Re: What did you do to your car today?
New to the group guys. I'm in Birmingham Alabama. I've got an AE86 coupe and I'm getting ready for a gz swap. Today, I finally got the cherry picker (out of my hallway in the house) and the gz has been lifted and cleaned up a bit. I found some issues on it. The harmonic balancer has some chipping on the outer most lip so I need to find a new one. The chipset for the cooling fan has made friends with rust. Aside from that, it's a jdm engine from an 89 mr2 with less than 35k miles on it. I can't wait! My brother will be here in a couple months to hook me up with a hand. Anyone in Birmingham Alabama? My email is douglas.holt80@gmail.com. Message me anytime. I've got loads of questions!
Re: What did you do to your car today?
I finally gave my inner fender a little sledgehammer massage to see how much steering angle I have after installing the t3 tie rod ends and steering arms. Not too bad but I may be going for more angle after I get a lil more hp.
Here's some before and after. It doesn't look like too much in the pics but the before was on stock front steering and control arms with stock fenders. The after is with my control arms extended a bit and the fenders rolled and pulled about an inch.
Before:
After:
Now I just need to fix the super slack in my steering from the t3 intermediate shaft to see how it really handles. Since t3 doesn't seem to think there can be anything wrong with their parts (I measured the stock intermediate shaft and the t3 one and it was a little less than 0.2mm smaller) I am probably just going to have my friend weld a bead around the base of the steering column to the intermediate shaft to eliminate the slack.

Re: What did you do to your car today?
^It seems like a lot of T3's newer stuff has issues. I speak from experience.

I had my Detail Dept. remove the '80s tint from the rear hatch and side windows. Sooooo much better.
Re: What did you do to your car today?
Finished piecing together my rear interior this morning, then went on a drive through Idyllwild, up the 243 and down the 74. SO MUCH FUN!!!

Continued to fix needed things. Replaced front wheel bearings. Decided to change to SW20 wheel studs. Still got to find some 5mm spacers that are not broken. I don't even feel safe with spacers to begin with but for some reason last owner thought it was ok to run it that way.
