4AGE 16V TRD Solid Lifters vs 1SZ-FE solid lifter

Postby KWL86 » Sun Feb 16, 2014 10:46 pm

Hi all,
Anyone know the height of TRD solid valve lifters for 4AGE 16V?

The reason I ask is because stock shim over buckets on 4AGE 16V is 23.6mm in height where as 1SZ-FE solid lifter is 25.5mm. If using 1SZ lifter I will be losing 2mm of valve lift as the bucket will bottom out inside the lifter bore hole. I have seen a lot of ppl getting excited to convert to 1SZ lifters but regret it later because 1SZ lifter is taller than stock and the valve travel is much more limited than stock lifter.

Any input is very much appreciated.

Cheers

AFAIK the Vitz buckets are pretty much the same height as the 4AGE bucket
and shim. But they allow more lift because the there is no longer any danger of
flicking the shim out with high lift cams.

The 1sz lifters don't even come close to bottoming out. You would have to be running absurd cam lift before it is even a possibility. By my measurements the 1sz lifters (#26) are .900 (just under 23mm) and the 4age measures .872 (or right around 22mm) WITHOUT A SHIM!!!! With a shim (.115, average of my collection) it is .910.
Besides for the huge difference in price, you could buy the vitz shims, and pay a machine shop to cut the skirts down to the needed height and still come out a bit cheaper than the TRD or other shim under kits.
