Fitting RWD 16v alternator bracket onto 20v

Postby canyon_carvers » Fri Aug 30, 2013 7:48 am

I read through a few forums & trying to gather information about swapping 4age 20v into AE86. It seem straight forward but I haven't found anything covering on "installing RWD 16v alternator bracket onto 4age 20v." Some say you can use the RWD alternator bracket and that was it.. They didn't mention anything about the bracket not clearing due to the Timing belt tensioner in the way... What do I need to do to properly fit the RWD 16v alternator bracket onto a 4age 20v? Here are some pictures...

you have 2 options. 1 get a grinder and make it fit (I would grind on the alt bracket and not the engine) or 2 get a 16v or silver top oil pump and tensioner

I ground a notch in the bracket to make it fit my 16/20 conversion. I later changed to the 16v/ST oil pump/tensioner setup and kept the same bracketry

Thank you both for the information. I'll start doing some grinding.
