4age 16v valve shim part numbers
4age 16v valve shim part numbers
Anybody have a list of all the part numbers for each of the different valve shim sizes for 16v 4age?
Re: 4age 16v valve shim part numbers
I searched and searched and searched. It's insane how hard it was to find this important info. But this is what I manage to find. For whoever else that may be looking.

And as of right now, www.toyotaoempartsworld.com seems to offer the best price I can find.

Re: 4age 16v valve shim part numbers
Thanks for posting this! I'm going to go through my small set of 16 shims and label them (on the bucket side).
Edit: If I'm doing this right, I have 5x of 2.90 and 5x of 2.95. There seems to be some variance in thicknesses. Some that I'm calling 2.95 are a little thicker than that, but not too close to being 3.00. I'm using metric calipers, 0.02mm scale, and trying to measure them in a few places with the top of the jaws below one edge (if that makes sense).

Definitely! This I'm sure has got to help a lot of people. I don't know how people are cam'd out and doing head work to there 4age's all this time without this information. I couldn't find it anywhere. But now we got it.
Yeah, I measured A LOT of shims, and most were not dead on spec. If I remember right, Intake valve clearance is .15mm-.20mm and exhaust is .20mm-.25mm... So you have a little room there to play with as far as shims not being EXACT. Just do a little math before ordering, and choose an available shim that will get ya as tight as you can be that's within OEM spec.
If your just labeling your shims for your own convenience, I'd recommend labeling them exactly as you measured. And not round out the number's... Then that will help you later, if you are ever doing valve work, obtain the tightest clearance you can. Say you have a 2.95 and a 2.97... but you have them both marked at 2.95... Sure the 2.95 would probably get ya within where ya want to be... but if you had marked the 2.97 as a 2.97... maybe that would have made for a even better fit... Just something to think about.

Yeah, I might do that (re-label the shims w/ actual thickness). I wrote it in sharpie on the dull sides so it's easy enough to cross out the old numbers or wipe them off.

look for 25mm shims on ebay. there are motorcycles that use the same shims as the 4ag. i got mine there for 5 bux each shipped i think. also i think you can take your old shims to the dealer and they might swap them for free. its worth a try. or hit up yoshimitsuspeed for his shim bank.. also i have quite a bit of shims i could trade you if i have the right size
toyodiy has all these part numbers listed as well so you can cross reference what other toyotas use the same shims. OEM SHIM INFO

Re: 4age 16v valve shim part numbers
Yeah, I found that out too. Old honda motorcycles and stuff. Yeah, I was searching everywhere for 25mm shims. I ended up searching ebay for the shim's I needed but with no luck. I needed some fatties so, I ended up just having to order em from a Toyota part supplier.
