Celica/Corolla steering wheel on AE86

Postby mustangraptor03 » Mon Jan 21, 2013 3:27 pm

I figured I'd ask since I wanted something a little different but I was wondering if anyone has put the Celica (ZZT230/231) or the Corolla (ZZE120) steering wheel into the AE86? I believe I've seen the Alteeza/IS300 wheel as well as the TRD wheel before on this site, but I couldn't recall. I have a ZZT231/Celica GT-S and I like the feel of the 3 spoke wheel and of course it looks better than the cheap Grant wheel I'm using at the moment for the Corolla. I was curious if was just a simple install or it required some sort of hub or anything. Thanks in advance.

Find the JDM AE86 steering wheel:

Those newer cars have airbag sensors and airbags in the horns. Your better off with something old school (nardi or momo) or JDM.

Billzilla ran an IS200 wheel on his AE86. I don't recall if he had to do anything special though.

I figured the air bag was a big thing and I had to carefully separate the air bag from the horn pad very carefully from one I had bought, but other than that the airbag was just one big assembly. Maybe I'll just sell the steering wheel and air bag and find another three spoke...
