If it had 0 miles, the fingerprints from the last mechanic to put a bolt on or the dealership still on it un-smeared, was blessed by Keiichi, Taka, and Katsuhiro, ran on jet fuel (resulting in the ability to fly), some dank Tofu, and maybe a 6 pack of Asahi...... id still go tell him to shove the shifter up the pooper

that's insane! No one in their right mind would buy that, especially when they can find something just as good on CL or even Ebay for a fraction of that price...and who'd spend that kinda money on an AE86? I'd go all out and get an R35 GT-R or a Porsche 911 if I got that kind of cash XD

I am SO glad to see that. Since he's got 147,000 miles and is a second owner, and I've got only 110,000 miles and I'm the original owner...

I'LL JUST HAVE TO ASK $199,999.99 FOR MINE!

Gonna run and right now and buy a case of single malt to celebrate.

It is ridiculous, but if you consider what the set of three pieces would have cost new, then try to find a set that can pass for new 25 years after the factory discontinued them...

This is why insurance companies total out old cars very quickly. There's just no way to obtain replacement parts, at any cost.

Foreign cult car parts on the US market, all the better. Ergh, worse?

So this means I can only expect $19,999 for my car, not $199,999?

Of course I'll include the full 50 liters of fuel in tank for a cash buyer.<VBG>

All absurdness aside, you do have to admit its probably one of the cleanest and most original looking 86's you'll find anymore.

My 85 GT-S coupe was unmolested (save for a shoddy Macco paint job in its past) and stock when I got it, but was still missing some of the small decals, panels were sunfaded, needed a good amount of cleaning, has rust even being a southern car, etc.. In the end its a surprisingly well kept Ohio car in my opinion haha, but obviously, not worth the price no matter what..

Initial D Tax, FRS/BRZ tax, Drift Tax, JDM Classic Tax, etc, etc, etc.
If you think that is bad.......try BMW E30 prices these days. lol

There is no doubt that the AE86 GTS prices are going up due to demand for them for collector cars now. Just be glad it isn't high as the Fast and Furious Tax back in the day.

They are getting pricey over on this side of the pond too. I looked at one for $5000 that was a supercharged Levin coupe. I talked to the carlot guy and told him that I had seen the 86 advertised online at his lot, he said (in japanese) "Yeah, It's been raining, so I keep it at home, because the roof leaks", I say "The roof leaks?! how bad is the rust??", he says "Door jambs are almost non existant, rocker panels have many holes, sunroof has holes, frame is rusted", So I ask "Why are you asking so much for this crappy car??", he said the parts were worth money, to which I replied "I got three sitting at home in better shape than yours, would you like to buy mine for 5k?" hahaha. All his car had was a crapped out GZE motor and a FRP hood, dude was crazy. Looked at another one that I was told had no rust except for the trunk lid, I looked at it and it was rusted to crap, and I pointed out all of the rust and asked the guy "How much are you asking for it?" he said "$5500". It's not an InitialD tax anymore, it's because these cars are getting harder and harder to find. Now they are more of a collectors item over here. Back in the day you would see them on the road set up for drag, drift, or gymkhana, runnin low and sounding throaty. But now you see these little hipster lookin dudes driving them on stock suspension cruising around. I've owned 16 AE86 and never paid over 2k each, for the first 15. I just bought one for 4k, and it still needs work. But half of the fun of owning these old ladies is putting work into them. InitialD is dead and shouldn't be brought up ever again
