Ramair uk eBay auction. Took a week to get to ca. Not bad.
They replaced the red uni filters. But I prefer the Ramair filters strictly for aesthetic reasons. The Uni filters probably filter more particles as a whole since they have multiple layers and oil.

Chuck how do those filters attach? I bought a RamAir box that covers both carbs and the back plate was inside out, so I flipped it and now the clips don't work.

These are just the simple foam covers that have 2 (smaller) holes per filter that you spread open and slide over the (in my case) ITB trumpets. The holes are small so you open them up with your fingers and slip on.

This is the filter i have. I can't remember if I have a filter for a Ford Cortina or BMW 2002, whichever is spaced right for my carbs.

I gave my AE86 a bad tank of cheap gas...the poor baby lunged the way up to my house in the last stretch, it's doing fine right now but I get the feeling I shouldn't do spirited driving till I can put better gas...lesson learned, never put 3.65$ gas in your iconic Japanese sports car!

Could you drill out new holes to the plate to mount the filter element securely? I almost got that unit to try and get it to fit my application, but thought why not get the foam only ones for ease of installing. I thought there wouldnt be any difference since its not plenum based.

Well I pressed the clips out and tried to install them from the other side, but for some reason they never catch anymore. So I came up with a new plan: drill out the 3 clip-catch-holes in the filter itself, thread the holes, install 3 bolts from the inside of the filter facing outwards, then the 3 bolts would stick through the plate and I can sling some wing nuts on them to hold it. I haven't done it yet, but I haven't come up with a better solution, either. I should have bought the ones you have but oh well....

Started sanding my wheels. Finished the faces of two of them with 500 grit. Still need to do the lips, then go 1000 and 2000 before polish. Also have minor lip damage on the 2 7jj's. I'm using a small palm sander to get the oxidation and scuffs off with 220 grit. 500, 1000, and 2000 are all wetsand by hand. Keep tellin myself it'll be worth it when I'm done...

Took my carbs off to inspect and yell at them. Found the front carb would shoot gas out with a good stream whenever I moved the throttle arm, rear carb not so much. Apparently it was "rebuilt" at one point and RTV was used liberally so much so that the check valves from the pump diaphragm to the jet body were gummed up and stuck. With the float chambers removed, the front carb dumps gas everywhere, the rear carb stayed dry. Float chamber level dropped every time I hit the throttle arm, not in the back. I have all the parts soaking right now, got to order some kits from Wolf Creek Racing now. *sigh* More money more problems.

Got new jets for the side draft carbs. Was running way too rich and stepped down a lot. Going to try to install the throttle linkage tonight if I have daylight.

A buddy of mine brought his Civic to me at work, it was misfiring. He said he just did a tune up but couldn't tighten on plug because his socket wouldn't fit? How'd you do the other 3? Anyway I tightened down and it still was missing, same cylinder it felt like. I pulled the plug wire off and it had a hole in it and was grounding out the the head intermittently. He had a spare cap and wire set in the trunk so I changed it with the car running. Gotta love 2 minute fixes!
