Re: Avatar/user panel move?
Kona, there are changes in the overall file size for an avatar, plus new limits on height and width.
Offhand I don't know them and it was a PITA to change the image, try to upload, see the error message, go back and change again...
You will need any photo editing tool that allows you to resize by pixels, not just percent. Get your file size down to under 6000 bytes. Then try to upload. If the error says "Must be less than 120 pixels (high? wide?) then go back into the photo editor and find a "resize" or "scale" tool, change that dimension to what the error message said, resave and try to upload again. If you get another error message (this time for height or width, whatever you didn't get last time) repeat one more time <G> to make the second dimension small enough. THEN it will upload.
Smaller avatars, smaller files, makes server faster and bandwidth less on every page. PITA but it does serve a purpose.

Indeed. This layout is pretty awkward. It was nice having all the info in one spot.
I just tossed my photo into microsoft paint and resized it to the allotted pixels.

"I mean people surf on their phones."
Good point. If the forum software is any good, it will detect the browser you come in with, and if the browser is mobile, the forum "should" then display totally differently, including downsized versions of all images. That's what basic proper web coding requires these days--but don't expect to see it done that way too often.<G>
Bloated pages that are way too big? Yes, with HTML 2 or 3.2 you'd expect a maximum page size around 32K so it would load quickly. these days? Ten times bigger, with four active technologies, and waiting for links in ads to load...THEY'RE ALL TOO DAMN BLOATED!
So avatars are the least of anyone's worries. If there is any web forum software (any) that isn't a dinosaur, it should be scaling those down on the fly, or in storage, for the lightweight clients.

Re: Avatar/user panel move?
I used Photogene app on my ipad. Choose your picture, click EXPORT, click RESOLUTION/RESIZE. Click EDIT. Enter resolution: 90 then click DONE. Tap on the 90 line and it will bring you back to the export options. Choose SAVE TO LIBRARY. Now you are ready to upload the image from your camera roll on Club4ag. The only thing is the app cost $2.99.
I'm sure there are other methods to resize pictures for avatars and I recommend we share what works.
