HG bore diameter

Postby Alex170984 » Sun Sep 11, 2016 12:45 pm

I am struggling to find a 81.5mm bore head gasket 0.03 to 0.04" thick

My new Pistons are going to be 81.5mm

I've found 83mm to before obtainable, would this be an issue? Or can I use a 20v head gasket as they are obtainable in 82mm for my desired thickness.

Cheers

There are some differences between the size/position of the cooling water
holes in the 16V and 20V gaskets, so using a 20V gasket on a 16V engine is
not a good idea.

The head gasket hole size should always be more than the cylinder bore size
to make sure that the edge of the gasket does not protrude into the combustion
chamber. The 82mm gaskets are hard to find as most shops only stock the
83mm, and it is OK to use the 83mm gasket on an 81.5mm cylinder bore.
