So using the faro scanarm at school i scanned a j160 case and created a 3d model. With that model i made the toolpaths and am almost finished making my own.

chohdog wrote:I am not entirely sure why everybody keeps making these adapters for the J160. The gear ratios are not really that much better than the stock AE86 ratios, except for the 3-4 shift.
If you make one for the S2000 trans, I would buy one off you.
As my car currently is 3.9 final with the stock J160 ratios.... my car is fast and capable.... I never feel I'm in the wrong gear.

sorted in having a kit to relocate the shifter to the stock position. Once
that is available, the rest of the conversion is easy.

While talking about the possibility of a shifter relocation kit becoming a reality; can
I ask how this would work with our locally available J160 conversion kit ?
I'd guess the plate to be 20mm thick,,, so what datum would you be using when
fixing the location for the shifter ? Bolting face on the back of the block ? Of course
plus or minus 20mm would be no big deal, but it would be nice to know how it would
work out with this style of adapter.
