Losing Fuel pressure

Postby Edwin909 » Mon Feb 16, 2015 1:34 pm

Long story short, my fuel pump went bad and i replaced it with a 255 walbro(which was probably a mistake) and now im losing fuel pressure when i turn off the car. I had the injectors cleaned by rc injectors thinking one of the fuel in jectors was leaking but im still having the same issue after installing them. Any ideas you as to what might be the problem before i send it to a shop. ae86 w/ 20v st engine

There should have been a (pressure sustaining) check valve in
the output of the pump. You can see in in the output tube of this
pump which has been accidentally broken off...

It is under the dust cap that is fitted to the outlet on a new pump,
and it is possible to remove the metal retainer when pulling the cap
from the outlet tube prior to installation. If the check valve is no
longer secured in the outlet it may no longer be working to hold
line pressure when the engine is turned off.

It's not a problem.
What difference does it make? None that you will ever observe since the pump is up to pressure in much less then 1 sec.
