hello. i've recently inherited an 85 corolla gts from my brother. currently in high school so i'm on a budget, and i'm fairly new at this stuff.
i've been looking to do some work on it as nothing has been done to it yet, and i'm starting with the suspension.
i'm looking for some springs/shocks that will have the car lowered 1.5" or so but will also be good as a daily driver/performer. i don't intend doing autox or drifting anytime soon, but i do like to drive hard on the streets at times (hope that makes sense). it's nothing serious but i'm looking for an upgrade.
i've been looking at the Megan Racing Lowering Springs or the Tanabe GF210 Lowering Springs along with KYB GR-2 Shocks. honestly, i haven't found any good reviews on these products yet. i'm well aware there are far better products but again, i'm on a budget.
all help is appreciated. thanks!

Re: AE86 springs/shocks. HELP!
I would just drive the car like that till I save enough money to get a complete kit front and rear.. T3 make a custom coil over with custom spring rate that u can pick.... And many other off the shelve coil over and shock kit out there that work great.. I would save and up grade the suspension system all at once... Save time and money... Not many people happy with just lowering spring. Why waste money buy lowering spring and later spend more for some else...
My personal experience is a set of tein coil over rear were shock and spring but it a kit.... And greddy type s kit... They are similar to me... The greddy have the advantage in height adjustability in both front and rear but tein just front.. I think the tein kit are discontinue.

Trd springs 6k front and 4.3-5.1k rears with tokico blues is a decent setup. Koni yellow shortstrokes would make it great.
And a few years down the road coilover your fronts.

The megan springs and tokico blue shocks are probably the best bang for the buck imo, and they're perfectly suited for what you described in terms of performance and drop. It's a mild-to-moderate setup and everything works together like it should i.e. your shocks won't bottom out, tires won't rub, etc. I've had it for a few years and it's perfect for a sporty street car. It's a little soft at the limit though; something to keep in mind...
