Bad coolant temp sensor?

Hello everyone. So I have been having a little issue with my car starting after it warms up. It's an sr5 with a 4ac. My question is, I know that sometimes this can be caused by a faulty coolant temp sensor. So is there two separate sensors for coolant temperature on these engines? One for the gauge and one that sends a signal to a computer? Because the gauge works fine. If there is two, which one sends the signal to the computer? I see a sensor threaded into the thermostat housing and another that is right by that which threads into the front of the head. Any help or tips are appreciated! It's basically stock, weber 32/36 carb, timing I just checked and set at 5 degres BTDC with vacuum advance unplugged and capped. It was at 10 degrees.
