Anyone know what header I have?

Postby hachigo87 » Mon Nov 11, 2013 10:09 pm

I bought this a year ago before I had my car and threw it on since the stock piping was rotted through. Never knew of / could find any branding. I believe its 2.5" all the way through, its been patched together since its changed hands a few times. The back half has 4 springs holding on the axle-back portion which has an RS*R GT-II tag on it, but there isn't an RS*R muffler, there's just a glasspack welded on and 2 chrome tips welded on the end.

Not super crucial as to finding out what this is, I just thought I'd quiz the resident experts around here, so thanks!

The galvanized 'catback' portion has a n RS*R tag on it. The header and 'downpipe' look to be of a different grade of steel

the only non stainless rs*r, i have seen was way back in the mid 90s and thats not it, was a regular catback with a resonator and a box style single tip muffler.
here's a pic of my rs*r exmag gt2. I thought i had a pic of the pipes and stuff but cant find it/

If the RS*r tag on it has a serial #, you can email them and they will try and find out where the pipe came from.

Its possible mine was that at one point.. but anymore its just a few sections of piping with a glasspack and twin tips welded on the end.

EDIT: just realized its hard as hell to read that when I posted it.. the tag reads:

RS*R

Hey those pictures look familiar (my old garage)! I hope that exhaust worked out for you. You ever get that car you bought running?

edit: The PO of my car wasn't sure who made that header.

Haha hey man! Actually I think I had my SR5 at the time when I bought this off of you. I ended up finding a bone stock 85 GT-S coupe down in Virginia Beach a few months later and sold the SR5. This is on my GT-S now and besides a few gremlins from sitting for a while the car's worked out great. I've been thinking about adding a resonator or something though because while it sounds great, being 2.5" its hellish loud for daily driving.

Speaking of looking familiar, I ran across this a few months ago:
