20v Water Pump?

Postby InitialB » Mon Nov 11, 2013 6:54 pm

It is obvious if everyone has been paying attention to the 20 valve swaps that the water pump is an issue when swapping into the AE86 chassis. I was browsing the web and found a water pump adapter made by Tec-Arts that eliminates the deviation of the water pump. Does this mean you can run the stock 20v pump and not have to maneuver a bunch of stuff around?

Dude, what issues?

Run all 16v parts instead of 20v stuff and you are fine. JSP head mod, some block off plates, a $30 TRD 16v headgasket, 16v water pump housing, 16v water pump and 16v pulley. 16v crank pulley, alternator bracket and pulley etc etc. You make the entire 20v engine run on 16v parts. Convert the timing belt to a silvertop setup to avoid blowing up the hydraulic tensioner. I've built more corollas than I can count using this setup for like 7 years now. Not one has had a problem, driven to work everyday, tracked every weekend. Run an underdrive water pump pulley if you're trippin out about high rpm cavitation.

Why not run 20v pump, pulleys and electric fans? This seems like such a better route to me.
