No power HELP!
No power HELP!
Was changing my water pump on my coupe when the wrench fell on top of the alternator power wire. Now I have no electrical power any where! All fusible links and fuses are good.. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Re: No power HELP!
Have you actually tested the fusible links on the battery positive terminal ??
It it usually one of those that blows, and you can't always tell by just looking
at them. Get a multimeter and test them for continuity.

Re: No power HELP!
Replaced all fuses, checked all power and ground cables and they are good. Problem still exists.

Test the alternator? is it getting any power through the wire?
Re: No power HELP!
Alternator wire is getting power. All ground wires check good also.
Re: No power HELP!
Hmmm... if you have 12V in the battery, and fuses and links are all good,
you MUST have 12V further down the line. Some items (lights, wipers, horn
and such) get pretty much direct power, and should still function even if you
have damaged other stuff. Start at the battery and work away from it, testing
for 12V as you go... see where the 12V stops/disappears.
If there is not 12V to be found on any of the wires leading away from the battery
positive, either the battery is fcuked, or you have a bad connection ??

Re: No power HELP!
Okay, found one of the white wires that hook up to the fusible link and goes to the ignition switch was shorted out. Ran a new wire and car now starts. But now I noticed the charge and brake light won't go out and there is no signal at the "charge " fuse located in the fuse box in the engine bay. Any one know where this fuse gets its signal from??
Re: No power HELP!
CHARGE fuse should have a yellow wire that runs to the alternator.
Check the voltage across the battery before you atart the engine... should
be 12 volts or just under. Start the engine and check the voltage across the
battery. If it does not rise to around 14 volts or slightly more, then the alternator
is not charging. If so, it probably got damagedby the short, and you need to
take to a shop for testing/replacement.

Re: No power HELP!
Thanks, will do. Will get back with the results
Re: No power HELP!
Found one of the white wires that hooks up to the fusible link was broken. Repaired the wire and so far my 'rolla has no more issues. Thanks again for all your help!
