Anyone every have any luck doing this. My door panels are pretty beat up. So I was thinking about removing the material and putting something else on it. I don't know how well it will work though. Any advice?

If this was my case, I'd rather save some money and get used Levin panels. Those are more robust.

is there a difference between the trueno and levin door panels? i thought they were the same. well both zenki and kouki models respectively of course.

I've recovered GTS panels before, I'll find and post some pics later. If you strip all the old vinyl and foam under it off, it comes out better. It is a pita though.

Here is a set I did. Wanted the panels to match the seats.

Not sure where I have the in before and progress pictures. It was relatively easy. The panels were the original Blue from a GTS and pretty rough. Carefully peeled off the coverings from the old panels and cut them up and traced them on to the new fabric. The worst part was the wood was a little chewed up so had to cut a few sections out and glue in new pieces.

I also did a complete interior swap from a Surf SSR-G in my coupe. You can kind of see the rear seats and panel in the pic. PLanning on doing the same on this one just need to get the rear seat fabric which is proving to be a little difficult.

Thanks...The Coupe was done about 5 years ago and still holding up with no rips or fabric separation. The blue hatch about 2 years ago and no issues. You can see the dash in the blue one is also recovered in the same vinyl. No issues with that one either. I used the 3M headliner spray glue. I also covered the gray headliner in the same fabric to complete the black interior. No sags there either.

The fabric for the door panels is Recaro Avus. The fabric is cut to the size of the entire panel and the vinyl is stitched across the top seem and then glued down and stitched to the fabric. Then the entire piece was then glued to the panel. The fabric has a foam backing and the vinyl was alot thinner. The stitching on the lower door panel was just to accentuate the lines of the stock look.

Those door panels look great gumby.. Awesome job! Mines are really weathered. I want to do this in the near future

here are my door panels. i did my own interior a few years ago, starting with the seats and finally the panels last year in black vinyl and suede. here is a few pictures, please excuse the dirty car, its been sitting for 4 years. the rear panels arent installed because im going to redo them, not happy with the outcome. i really need to find a better quality adhesive/spray glue....

That looks awesome...Nice work man.

Just finished recovering a few bad spots in my front seats and now working on the backs...What an ass pain. The vinyl is so dry and brittle it is damn near impossible to lay it flat to use as a template. Should have the entire interior finished this week.
