This thread is designed to be a PROS\CONS list for each engine option for the AE86 chassis, so that at a glance you can find the engine you are thinking about swapping and read what others think of it in the AE86 chassis.

Please keep discussion to a minimum, add an engine and list in the following format (or best possible recreation) your thoughts on PROS\CONS, feel free to relist engines with your own thoughts and PROS\CONS.

Doing this will allow many new comers or those looking at swaps to get valuable input without creating a new thread.

Pros:
Factory AE86 Engine
Good aftermarket support
Can be supercharged, turbocharged or tuned for N\A and makes a wonderful ITB sound.
OEM parts availability

Cons:
Lower Power output unless considerable investment
Not the most fuel efficient motor when built for power
Low torque

Pros:
Last 4AGE motor by Toyota
Lightest internal rotating assembly
Beautiful ITB sound
Considered by many to be a sweet-spot for power when properly setup for the 86 chassis

Cons:
Only came in FWD applications, complications with cooling systems and ignitions system IE: some fab or modification work required
Expensive to build N\A power
Low parts availability inside the United States
May not be SMOG capable?
