Oil pressure

Postby ae86xy » Thu Sep 26, 2013 2:10 am

So past two days my ae86 7age I notice that during start up my oil pressure is kinda low during start and while warming up shouldn't be higher, then when it's fully warm up goes back to normal.then when givin a gas it rises up is that normal

Or is it because due to the weather here in seattle, wa. Around 40 dg. At night/morning

On all engines with the correct idle speed, the cold oil pressure will be higher
than the warm oil pressure, due to the oil being "thicker" when it is cold. As the
engine warms up the oil becomes "thinner" and the idle pressure will drop. Yes,
when you rev the engine the oil pressure should rise.

The only reason I can think of why your cold idle pressure would be low, is if
your cold idle speed is way low... like 500 rpm instead of 1000 rpm ?
