Car ae86 gts. 7age 2k since rebuilt
What I did yesterday is change the oem radiator to aftermarket samco hose I made sure to burp the system, turn the lever to hot n cold the radiator cap is amonth old from oreillys parts.
Now its leaking today from the overflow tank hose its started today while driving for 40m. Park the car and notice it did it twice today but yesterday wasnt leaking any idea why, also place an order for oem radiator cap from toyota

Re: coolant.....
Do you mean it is leaking from where the overflow hose connects to the radiator cap?
Or the overflow bottle is overflowing?
Or it is leaking from the radiator cap? Or the hose itself has split and is leaking?
Too many folks use anti-leak antifreeze, which is actually a bad thing unless you have leaks. And it prevents the radiator cap from making a good seal. Could be all you need is to clean off that seat so the cap can seal down properly.

Re: coolant.....
Ok so when the car is just idling it doesnt leak from the small hose that pointing down the chassis but when your driving for a few miles it start to leak. The coolant I use is toyota oem red coolant.
So on my days off I will drain the radiator aswell as the block and jack up the front
It doesnt leak from the overflow, radiator cap or hose that connects thru radiator.
It only leaks on that small hose.

Re: coolant.....
If the overflow bottle is not full and there is coolant coming from the small hose off the overflow down towards the ground, then you have the lines reversed.
Re: coolant.....
That sounds like your overflow bottle is overflowing as the engine heats up. That's not a leak, that's an intentional overflow.
If everything is physically in the right place, either you have a bad radiator cap, an incorrectly seated radiator cap, or you engine is overheating. If your temperature gauge is in the normal range and you are not overheating, it comes back to a bad radiator cap.
There's absolutely no reason to drain the entire system, that's working on the wrong end of the elephant.

Re: coolant.....
Thanks RED, the problem was in the overflow bottle when you lift that nozzle there was a gasket or rubber seal type that sits on top of it somehow I twisted that cap and not knowing it that the gasket block that hole that that goes directly to the overflow causing the coolant to spit out from the hose instead getting back to the overflow.....it's fix now.
Re: coolant.....
Got home damn it did it again, later picking up an oem radiator cap that I ordered last week from toyota we shall see what happens I notice that the lower radiator hose is cold and the upper hose was very hot i know its normal just trying to get a second opinion or is that mean that my thermostat stuck open, that thermo is oem.
When I open the radiator cap while its warm I hear a hizzing sound from the cap then coolant get push out from the top of the radiator thru return hose but the coolant doesn't goes back in the reservoir it shots straight thru that smaller rubber living coolant to the chassis.i will bleed that system again when the suns up

Re: coolant.....
Does the temp gauge in your dashboard work? It can take five miles, five minutes or more, for a Corolla to reach and stabilize at operating temperature. If the gauge is coming up so the needle is on the "E" in temp, or something near that, it is heating up and stabilizing and that means the thermostat is working.
But by all means, they should be changed every 20-30 or so <G> along with the thermostat gasket if you feel adventurous. I have no idea what's happeneing with your overflow bottle. Last time I checked, there's no valving in mine, just a tube that comes from the radiator to the bottom of it, which works like any straight siphon tube, and another one that carries any excess over the side.

That's right. When you release the pressure in a hot radiator, either you get scalded by steam, or the fluid expands and comes out the overflow tube. You should be able to get a good overview on how that works from pretty much any shop manual for any car, ask at your local library's reference desk to see one.

This would mean that your thermostat is stuck closed. Check for air bubbles in your system and make sure you bleed it properly. Also none of that explains why the coolant is bypassing your overflow bottle.
