Rear sway bar and front sway bar q

Hello, i recently read on another forum the effects of sway bars.
For the front sway bar stock (22mm) a thicker one(25mm) would usuaully mean the car will understeer
As for the rear one which is 16mm(correct me if i am wrong), to get a 24mm is more usual for drifting since it provides more oversteer.

If lets say, we want to grip run, then we would replace the front stock one only for a thicker one? Or...? Just want to clarify for my own future reference.

For traction driving you want the car to be balanced and you should easily be able to initiate understeer or oversteer just by using steering, throttle and brake inputs.
If your car has too much tendancy to understeer then you may want to increase rear bar or decrease front bar. In my experience though when it comes to people not being able to get their car to do what they want it almost always comes down to driver skill so focus on that first. Learn vehicle dynamics and how to make your car do what you want it to. Initiating oversteer should be easy in most situations, especially any time you have some speed.
Drifters need to heavily modify their setups because they want to be able to drift well below 100%. A properly setup tarmac rally car would pass a drifter in the corners going about twice as fast and almost as sideways.

The other thing to remember is that sway bars are just that. They are designed to reduce body roll while allowing a comfy ride. An ideal track setup uses springs and shocks to reduce body roll greatly reducing or eliminating the need for sway bars.
If you are looking for a true performance setup then go after the rest of the suspension first then come back to sway bars. At that point you might find yourself taking them off or running smaller ones.
If you need that soft street ride then you will be forced to rely more on bars.
