Ok, I've been searching the web with no real luck. Have a 85 Corolla GTS. I need to smog it and I was just doing some checks and it seems that my charcoal canister is clogged. Blew compressed air into tank port, as FSM suggests, no air out of the other ports. So, can't find one new, if I go to the junkyard they will most likely be clogged too, so is there a way to tear it apart, clean it, replace the activated charcoal and reassemble? I know the manual says you can clean it by blowing air and covering one of the ports, but that got me nowhere. Or are there any other charcoal canisters that will fit in its place?
Thanks

It's pretty rare for them to clog. If you found one in a junk yard there is a decent chance it will be ok. Many people have pulled canisters out of newer cars and mounted them in place. I don't know of anything that would bolt up and look stock though. Might be worth hauling it into the junk yard with you and see what you can match up. Some of the newer canisters seem to be smaller which is nice.

It's probably a crime to post this here, but the ToyotaNation forum has a write-up for cleaning the canister:

Yeah I saw that, tried but didn't work for me.
