Tell me a little more about your goals for the build. How much boost? How much power? What redline? Etc.
For moderate boost and stockish redline the the stock rods should be fine.
If you are going for a big power build I would get a 7 rib shortblock. The stock 20mm rods should be god for most any build and if you wanted to upgrade you would have more options. I can get Carrillo rods with a 20mm wrist pin.
If you would be interested in a high comp low boost setup then I can get wiseco pistons for the 18mm rods.
Add a 2mm HG and you should be around 10:1 compression. With proper tuning you should be able to run 10-15 PSI no problem. As someone who is running 7 PSI on a stock 11:1 blacktop I will tell you that high compression and boost is very fun.
This will get you an increase in gas mileage, off boost HP, hp/psi and overall fun factor.
You could also get someone like oldschooltoy to do a PNP and open up the chambers for you to bring compression down more. You could also do it yourself if you have the tools and skills but nothing beats getting headwork done by a skilled pro.
I can also price out custom pistons for you.
