Celica Supra Diff Help

Postby wideslider » Mon May 06, 2013 5:11 pm

Hi guys,

I recently purchased a Celica Supra Diff converted to suit an 86 with an F20c. The seller told a few white lies which unfortunately going to cost me money.

-It has an adjustable 4 link which have completely shagged rose joints.
-The Crown Wheel and Pinion are worn and super noisy
-The tailshaft needs a slip joint as it is for an F20c swap which has a gearbox flange, not a conventional yoke arrangement.

My theory is that due to the car being bult and driven with a once piece tailshaft it has put excess pressure in the pinion in the diff causing the bearing to crush and hence wear out. This has no doubt contributed to the rose joints being ruined too. The setup was meant to be rebuilt and only 2 track days old.

Questions

-Do you know what links for the Celica Supra diff conversion are longer than stock as I'd like to go back to a rubber bush to remove some vibrations and noise. I'd like to put stock arms in upper or lower if they still fit.
-Is there a shop near Hollywood CA who builds and modifies tailshafts?
-Any idea what a new C&P supplied and installed would cost and are any recommendations near Hollywood also?

Thanks for your help.
