so im planning on putting new shocks on my car, I heard that a lot of people uses the one from camaro. I was wondering what year camaro or whats the part number of either tokico or kyb. thanks in advance for the help.

If you are thinking about KYB, why not buy the KYB shocks for the car? Ride is pretty much oem-ish, rear shocks are dirt cheap if they are still in production.

Iv heard that it is better to use the sw20 rear strut inserts in the front of our corollas since most of the weight is in the rear of an mr2

This topic was brought up about how well the Camaro shocks actually work for this application. Someone who worked for KYB said the Camaro shocks aren't valved properly - they just happen to bolt right in. They said the Fox-body Mustang shocks are actually better but they need different lower bushings to bolt in. I bought a pair years ago but never put them in, they're still in my back seat, so I can't comment on the actual performance.

I just want to bring this up in case anyone was actually looking for better performance - not just cheap short stroke shocks.

also have heard ford f150 front shocks will work as rears for our cororras. and are a shorter stroke/height than the maro's

Whatever works I guess. In theory it sounds like a terrible idea because those cars are all a lot heavier than a corolla. I suspect an over damped setup would be ok for drifting? As ga_goosh mentioned, the opposite can be said for using sw20 fronts on the front of a corolla (i.e. in theory they should be under damped). Real world practice is a different story though.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like there are any front and rear short stroke shocks valved specifically for the ae86. Word is most of the valving used for ae86 applications (e.g. hts) are just taken from other makes/models and packaged for an 86. Even the trd ss fronts people use on the 86 are meant for an ae92...
