Does anyone have any good links or info on a brake booster delete such as parts used etc... ?

hmm, not sure? I do know that's what Yusuke-san from CarPeace did with his hatch. He runs a brake booster delete with an s-chassis BMC, and no proportioning valve (iirc, the s-chassis BMC has one internally?)

billy, the ae86 and the schassis bmc mounts are the same so you can use either or. you could use the r33/z32 1" master as well

Any pros or cons of deleting it other than freeing up space?

mostly just preference. some dudes like the real hard feel of the brake pedal without the booster.

Have you ever driven in a car without a booster to get to feel the difference between the two?

I'm with Jacare, not only would it clear out some much needed space but it would help my leaky booster to.

It's a bad idea imo for a street car, especially when using a stock size or larger bmc. It will decrease braking performance and feel, arguably dangerous. I've read that some people use the stock bmc and relocate the mounting point up slightly for added leverage, but yeah...

If you do a custom setup with smaller than oem bmc, or perhaps a dual master setup with a brake balance bar it will be usable, but the pedal will still be really hard.

yeah, it's not really fun...

you can take off the vacuum line to the booster from the intake and cap the lines, and try it out like that.

That CarPeace engine bay is probably one of my top favorites.
I love all the work they did in there.

I hear so many mixed things about deleting the brake booster.
I guess it would take some getting used to (?)

Ive had my brake booster disconnected for awhile now and dont think i want to put it back on. I actually like the pedal feel. Takes some getting used to though

If you remove the booster you really need to change the brake pedal lever ratio. The stock pedal ratio is about 3.8 to 1 [boosted]. You need to relocate the master cylinder up slightly and drill a new hole for the push rod that will give you a lever ratio of 5 to 1. You will be much happier with the pedal feel. If you take the canister apart you can use the internal rod with your manual brake system. The canister is spring loaded so clamp the halfs together before separating. You will also have to remove the small push button cap on the end of the internal rod. But once removed the radius is the correct size to fit in the stock AE86 master cylinder. Dave W

Been thinking about doing this, during my last track day it rain a bit and the brakes locked up easier and I wasn't able to get a good feedback from them as in the dry. I've read that the ae86 is light enough to not need a booster and taking it out lets to brake at the limit easier. This is FC brakes with a 1" master and wilwood porportioning valve.

Old thread, but I did this in my STI, and have no problems. Switched to a Tilton master, and a Wilwood proportioning valve, located in my wiper cowl.
