8 gauge sounds about right for the grounds that go from battery to body and firewall to head.

Instead of buying a replacement toyota ground, I made my own with Automotive, stereo amplifier power wire, and copper connectors. They had 2 gauge on sale, so I got 5 ft, the connectors, shrink tubing, and some solder.

I made 3 grounds, battery to body, battery to coil, firewall to head and had a bunch left over.

for the connectors, instead of crimping. Held connector with vice grip, heated with a torch, melted solder in, then jammed the cable in.

Yep, in the process of upgrading the big 3, which is almost exactly what's listed above. Got some 4-gauge wire for half off at home depot, though if I were so inclined, I would have gotten wire with a higher strand count. Took a torch to secure the ring terminals with solder (which was really fun, btw, playing with fire.). I may add another for the head and the coil if I have extra parts. Stay tuned.
