Lowering Advice

Hi. I'm new to the whole ae86 forum and I was wondering if someone could help me with my suspension. I'm getting 15x7'' konig rewinds -+0 offset. As of now my car sits stock I've got 1.85'' lowering springs going on it and I was wondering if I'm going to have any problems with this setup.

What springs? If they are Eibach Pro springs, you should be fine. I buddy of mine has them on his car with the same Rewind size & offset and he has no rubbing problems even when autocrossing or tracking.

they are M2 and yeah thats what I'm wanting cuz i like to do autocrossing and mountain runs for fun and i just dont want something that is gonna rub when i hit a corner too hard. Also my tires are gonna be 195/50's

Never rubbed with my 15x7 0 Enkei 92 mesh with 195/55/15. And my car was slammed. Like hit a bump on the interstate and watch road reflectors kick up in my rear view mirror slammed haha.

You should be fine. I'm using megan springs (same drop), same wheels, and 195/50 tires - no rub.

did you have to get an adjustable lateral rod for the rear

It does throw the axle alignment off slightly with the stock lateral rod. An adjustable rod is needed to center the rear end and obtain 0 thrust angle.

I ran the setup without the adjustable rod for a while and didn't experience rubbing though.

i ran 205-50-15 on my konig rewinds(15x7 0 offset) no problem, i did a mini roll on the front fenders and removed the liners, prolly didnt have to, Only rubbed over large bumps cause my front struts were blown. Rears no rub at all with that wheel and tire combo

Running 280ZX wheels on my 85 on slightly cut M2 springs. Wheels are 14x6 +12 I believe, running 185/60/14 all around. Stock tophats, tokico blue inserts in the front, Monroe Sensatracs for a Camaro in the rear. Haven't had it aligned yet and I don't have a panhard bar yet but these wheels are pretty narrow. I rub the fender depending on suspension flex when parking, I'm against bumpstops in the rear (but my trunk is also full) and I scrape fender liners in the front on some bumps in the road when cruising.

Otherwise, rides a lot better than before, even with cut springs. It's a temporary fix but looks decent for now I think.

i had the same wheels on my first ae86.
before i got the rewinds i bought B+G springs on tokico blues, T3 NRCA, and T3 lateral (panhard) bar. installed everything and ran on some junkyard 15x7 +25 enkei? mesh wheels. fitment sucked but for junkyard price it was fine.

then i bought the rewinds. because of the NRCA's, they rubbed like crazy. i used my jack handle to roll the fenders lol and i had to cut the tab where the fender and bumper meet, drill holes in the fender for that trademark "ziptie X" that most ae86 have. fender liners? pffft come on its an ae86 not a lexus.
oh and i was running 185/60/14. 195 = NO WAY.
this was all for the front. rears should be fine just get a lateral bar to center the axle.

anyway here is how it sat:

I need a panhard bar to get rid of the rear end wiggle, its more apparent now that its dropped. I'm thinking I should be alright with camber plates and just RCA's on Celica Supras and 185/60's seeing as they're a little wider with about the same offset as the Z wheels on my car now

yep panhard bar will firm it up a bit. you will notice a difference for sure. i also had a set of celica supras for spare drift tires. cant beat em!
and regular RCA's vs. the negative camber RCA's i had will giv eyou more room for front wheel clearance.

Any rubbing issues with the Supras? I'm assuming you were running 185/60s on them as well? I read about the NCRCA's for that but I've also heard some negative feelings on them as well. Might just run RCA's and do what I can with the camber elsewhere, not looking for a gangster lean or anything up front just yet :lol:

no rubbing issues at all. they dont have the agressive offset of the rewinds (-9) so they fit with no rubbing even on my car with NRCA.
if i were you i would go rewinds with regular RCA and camber plates. should fit like a glove!
