Just wanted to see if anyone has pictures of headlight mods or different headlights on their 86. I have seen some that remove the eyelids and put brick style lights or something like that, I have also seen raybrig diamond style headlights, but I cant find a picture of them on the car. I also see the ebay LED ones lol

i was wondering if anyone ever made a custom hood, a Glass one. a see through hood. I think it would be creative.

there are some clear hood's out there, however unless your car is just for show and you hide it well I wouldn't get one... it's going to get dirty and people are going to see whats in your engine bay 24/7 which isn't a comfortable feeling in my book. only other reason i could think of is to have it if you go to the track so people can look in without having to have the hood propped.

back to topic though, those headlights just made my pants tighter

^Not bad, but it would be nice if they filled the gap more, kind of like an MK1 supra..

Here's a preview of mine. They are unfinished obviously because there's no lexan to protect the projector lens yet. The projectors are from an E92 3 series and use D1S hids. They look better in person honestly lol. I think it looks weird in pics.

I would also like to see more custom style headlights.
I have been conversing with Daniel Stern about new lights. He carries Cibie head lights. I'm still debating on what to do. It would be a basic swap but be actually bright, hah.

Samuel.inc,
I actually like how they look. I do agree, if they filled the gap, they would look even better.
Did you wire them seperately? For high and low? Will those housings be able to withstand the HID output?
Do they make this style in a kit form that is legal?

XanManAE86,
Nice man, lets see them opened up.

He is the only person to talk to about lighting. He also carries all Cibie headlights, bulbs and accessories.
Email him, tell him what you have and what you want. He will answer all your questions.

I have the Rayburg lights and they work awesome. Better lighting than stock lights. Although the beam pattern is made for rhd cars

I agree with yah rum, I like the flip up lights to, thats why I contacted DS all of his products will fit in the stock location without any mods.
But, some aftermarket lighting options would be pretty cool, having options is always good.

Did you wire them seperately? For high and low?.....No...(4 lowbeams)
Will those housings be able to withstand the HID output?......Yes( they look cheap but there good quality)
Do they make this style in a kit form that is legal?........No,,, (there fog lights)

Customizing is risky depending on location.......
Im in so Cal ,, so headlights are the least of the cops worries..

I'll be redoing mine here soon. I tried to use the factory popup frame as a base but its kinda on the heavy side and too much crap in the way of all the lighting hardware. I'll be making a thin framework that can be sealed with polycarbonate plates around the sides and bottom with the factory cover on the top, and it'll still use the bmw projectors I have along with some toyota truck led arrows for turn signal markers. It will look similar to the pic I posted before but it should turn out much better, at least I hope so.
