A/C for 20v swaps?

Postby Kuromi_loves_toyota » Mon Jan 02, 2023 12:38 am

im in the process of 20v swapping my corolla, i dont really know what to do about climate control, can i just use an A/C compressor and other components from any old 86, should i look for a smallport compressor, or should i try and source a compressor from a 20v? i have the condenser, heater core, and all the piping needed, i just need a compressor. all help is appreciated

For the easiest setup is to use the rwd 16v compressor and (someone correct me if I'm wrong) rwd main pulley. Iirc if you use the 20v pulley there's some shaving involved.

Everything from the sr5 is compatible but the compressor because it's a single rib pulley. If you use the sr5 compressor you would need need to swap all the pulleys from the sr5 to the 20v to make it work.(I've only seen it done on a 16v but in theory should work on the 20v)

If you can't get the A/C working just use the good 'ol 2/75.
One shot, one kill.

I've always heard this one... you need to shave the compressor mount to align both pulleys right?

The idler, and compressor pulleys to be precise.
