Front Windshield Question: Difference between LHD and RHD?
Front Windshield Question: Difference between LHD and RHD?
Hi there, just like the title says. I keep hearing that there is a difference between the two and for the life of me I cannot figure out how it would be different. Can anyone help shed light on this? Thank you!

Hmmm...but this would be the AE86 JDM version compared to either an AE86/AE88 VIN [SR5 vs GTS] US version comparison right? I saw that post from earlier but not sure if that really helps to answer my question.

My bad... didn't notice that you were actually asking if there is a difference LHD to RHD.
As far as I know there is no difference in the windscreen opening... any AE85/AE86 (GTS/SR5)
screen should fit. The US screen does list under a different number but the cowl listing is the
same as JDM. I don't know the reason why the US screen has a different number, but most
likely it is due to laminated vs toughened or shaded top vs non-shaded, or maybe it had to
be stamped as complying with a US safety standard.
All the factory screens are discontinued so you will be buying a locally made replacement
screen. Best bet is to measure your existing screen (edge of glass to edge of glass) on the
vertical centerline and go and see what your car glass specialist has to offer. If your car is
USDM then the locally made screen will fit and comply with your local regulations.
Sorry... that's all I know.

I have an RHD converted AE86. The cowl needs to be swapped along with the firewall. The wiper motor is also different, and you'll need to bang the metal a bit on the passenger side or else the motor will get caught when it's rotating.
