OBX Limited Slip Differential (Kouki)

Postby Tora » Mon Feb 11, 2013 1:16 pm

So, I stumbled across this on Amazon:

OBX makes LSDs for Corollas now? Has anyone been brave enough to install one of these yet? $350 is quite tempting.

It's a helical diff, so I wouldn't expect it to work very well on a lowered car. If I run my rear bar too stiff, I get wheelspin with my Tomei 2-way, so I'd be in wheelspin city with a helical diff for sure.

If it's like anything else OBX makes, it wont fit. Just buy a used OEM and shim it up a little.

The biggest drawback is that a helical LSD is not made to fully lock but will work better than an open diff. You won't get the immediate single-wheel spin that you will with an open diff, but it will not lock like a proper plated diff.

Church. The only thing I've ever ordered from them was the cheapo 16v header. Nearly broke my EGR piping trying to get it to line up with the hole they welded in crooked. Was close to bolting back on my cracked stock manifold when I finally got the big banjo bolt threaded.

$160 for a T3 kit is more economical anyways.
