Does anybody know were you can get the glue that's come on the intermediate shaft from factory from?? Iv been running the mk3 supra intermediate shaft with the aw11 steering rack and over time the glue stuff came off causing lots of play inbetween the intermediate shaft and the housing piece it sits in.. I tryed tac welding it as an alternative but the welds broke and I kinda get the feeling that welding it might be to unforgiving

Any sort of metal epoxy would work fine I'd imagine (metal bonding epoxy that is, not epoxy made of metal. If that even exists). JB weld would probably work better than fine.

are you sure the play is comming from the i shaft and not the rack itself?

It's for sure coming from the shaft.. You can pull on the shaft and look at the play as it happens

I have the same issue. Anyone have any new input on this topic? I would rather not weld it if there is another option.

You can try this stuff http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/107695O/3mtm-super-fast-urethane-08609.pdf. I remember using it back in the Starion days for a motor mount or something. The urethane may even absorb some of the vibration.

Can someone describe the play in the manual steering from the above posts? I'm wondering if the play in my steering is from the same issue as described in this thread.

I also have a AW11 steering rack and a MK3 Supra intermediate shaft. When I'm driving straights the steering wheel can move/float left and right several degrees before finding resistance and changing the steering.

I believe there's a bolt in your rack that determines preload between the pinion gear and the rack. If that loosens off, you could potentially have wide clearances that would give you that slop

For this you may want to check your rack mount bushings. I went to get an alignment once and the guy at the shop told me that the rack was loose. I didn't believe him till I felt it on the way home.

Thanks for the advice! I will check them out.

Check for possible play in the inner/outer tie rods as well. Inner tie rod play can be a little bit more difficult to see sometimes since the boot covers the joint.
