Exhaust manifold
Re: Exhaust manifold
You want to replace the gasket on the head to manifold??
Re: Exhaust manifold
Any experience with any other cast iron ex. man. on any other engine in the world?
There is nothing 4ag specific about it.
It's very possible to break every bolt, without care & prep & technique.
I'd search for 'how not to break bolts'.

Re: Exhaust manifold
Assuming it's ALL stock with all original components...
-Start by unbolting the pipe that connects to the catalytic convert in front.
-Unhook the exhaust hanger (the rubber o ring bushings) on the pipe in front of the cat. (Fyi this piece is often missing.)
-There's a small support bracket for the manifold that connects to the block near the engine mount which you'll need to unbolt. (Fyi this piece is often missing.) You might need to remove the heat shields on the upper manifold to get to it; I can't remember for sure.
-Unbolt the manifold from the cylinder head.
-Slip the manifold off the studs and you should have enough room to swap gaskets. Be advised it's a boat anchor, i.e. heavy.
If the manifold is aftermarket just unbolt the pipe in front of the cat and also where the manifold meets the head to achieve the same thing. WAY easier.

Re: Exhaust manifold
I would hit every bold with PB blaster as exhausts love to get rusted.
And have a pry bar handy. Use a breaker bar (space willing) to jar the bolts loose, don't ever try to strong arm a nut/bolt with a small rachet, you will strip and or break a bolt. Good luck!
