Flywheel bearing, urgent help please

Just pulled my gearbox as had a strange whine since I fitted it to my Starlet, after looking at uprated clutch kits I noticed they come with a small bearing that looks like it goes into the flywheel centre.

Mine is missing, I had used a flywheel from a AE82 Corolla so probably was never there, can anyone tell me it's dimensions so I can order one ASAP

The small bearing on the right is the one.

Also any views on these clutch kits ?

Thanks, a quick Google says its 12x28x8, does that seem right!

I'm using a flywheel from a AE82, are all 4age flywheels the same ?

The one from my 4agze is totally different though.

bearing fits in back of crank... not flywheel. fwd have no bearing, rwd needs one

if you want Toyota.... 90363-12003-77 is the part number

Just ask any place that supplies bearings for a 6001-2RS. Should
be cheap as chips :)

What's the reason the 86 setup requires this bearing ?

I'm a bit worried I could have damaged my gearbox now ! Have done around 1000 miles like this inc a trackday. I pulled the box as when the clutch was pressed a squeaky whine was present and I just though my release bearing had gone bad. But that seemed fine ? It's then I noticed no bearing on the crank.

The input shaft on the T-50 gearbox only has one bearing on the shaft...

The pilot bearing is there to locate the end of the input shaft and prevent the
shaft from "flopping around" when the clutch is disengaged. The bearing is only
working when the clutch is disengaged. At all other times the input shaft and
crankshaft rotate at the same speed.

FWD versions don't use a pilot bearing, and it is not unusual for the bearing to
be missed out on RWD conversions. However, while not have the bearing can
cause some clutch vibration and noise, I have no knowledge of it destroying
gearboxes. Just tap the bearing in until it bottoms out, re-assemble, and you
should be fine. Make sure the bearing is a sliding fit on the shaft beforehand ;)
