Hatch latch fix

Postby fisqual » Mon May 11, 2015 7:30 pm

Hi, a quick search didn't return any results so hopefully I'm not duplicating this post.

I have been struggling to open my hatch for basically the entire time I've owned the car. It's always the same story, pull lever, pull hatch up half way, go pull lever again, sometimes that's enough for it to pop open. Sometimes I would pull the lever with my foot and pull the hatch open with my hands... Well, today I've FINALLY solved that problem.

The spring that's attached to the lever that touches the courtesy light switch and pushes the trunk up was too weak. I shortened it by about 1/4, reattached it and now when I pull the lever my hatch pops up far enough that it doesn't catch the latch again. The arrow points to where the lever literally pushes against the latch on the trunk, giving it a little push upwards when you pull the release!
