20v BT bad VVT pulley?

hi

any have experience with a bad VVt gear?... what effect does it have if it not properly?...

on my engine i here some ticking noise but it make no effect if i unplug the VVt solenoid .. so i give the solenoid a boost of 12v from the battery and the ticking went away but engine seem to be running weak or rattle basically reducing in speed but when remove the 12v from battery the ticking come back...
it is time to replace that VVT gear?

Mine is noisy but still works ok.
