w50 ???

I'm thinking about upgrading my transmission , I have a friend wanting to sell me a w50 . I was wondering what is needed to make that work with my 4agte ?

W50 isn't bad, but, like mentioned in the link, rare. W55 may be a better bet. It's the 5 speed box in nearly every toyota truck from 85 to 96 or so. More than strong enough and has very nearly the same ratios as the T50 if you're wanting to keep similar gearing. They're also cheap as chips (think 100 bucks for a decent one). You'll need a bellhousing to adapt from the 4ag to the w box, readily available online either via eBay or other online retailers. The chinese copies are actually pretty good from what I've seen, and only require small fiddly things to get perfect (retapping the slave mount, shaving slave mount height, helicoil on the pivot for the clutch fork; but those were all for the 1uz to w box bell so YMMV). If you're wanting to spend a bit, a nite kids bell can be had at a1turbosNZ, but at a premium.
