AE86 GTS 4AGE Diagnosis Codes

Postby jondee86 » Thu Oct 02, 2014 3:37 pm

While I'm sure that anyone working on a GTS will already have
downloaded a copy of the Workshop Manual, there may be a few
people without internet access (who aren't reading this) that may
not have seen these codes...

Very handy when trying to figure out why your car is not running
well / down on power /running rich / won't start etc... etc...

This post will be linked in the TECHNICAL FAQ right next to some
other posts that will explain how to find the diagnostic plug and
what to do with it when you find it :-P

Here are copies of the diagnostic codes scanned from my own repair
manual for the 4A-F and 4A-GE engines, dated May 1987. This version
appears to be for all markets other than the USDM.

Codes 1 thru 11 for a car without AFM appear to be the same as the
page posted above, which I assume to be from the USDM manual.

Codes 12 thru 51 are noted as being for a car with AFM, and again
I would expect that these codes apply to AFM equipped cars in
markets other than the USDM. I don't know if there is a second page
of codes in the USDM manual ?

But I am putting these up as they could be of some help to people
working on non-USDM cars who are having trouble matching their
codes to the codes in the USDM manual.
