Got this sr5 secondhand with this engine already swapped into it.

Basically I'm trying to figure out what exhaust manifold I can get that is going to fit and allow me to pass smog in california..I'm assuming a stock one would be the best to go with if I wanted to be certain I would pass.

Image

It came with headers that aren't going to allow me to pass smog in california

I have this other exhaust manifold that isn't going to fit. Has the gaskets I have on top of it to show how it isnt going to fit..

The numbers are pretty unreadable in the picture but on the left side of this plate it says 0794698. Not Really sure if that helps at all..

Its nonop at the moment. It wasnt going to pass even the visual inspection of smog for sure.

The manifold in the pic with the gasket is an intake for a GZ. I had an AE86 before and never found a header with an EO. So you are pretty well stuck with looking for a stock exhaust manifold. The manifold from a FWD won't fit, so make sure it's for a RWD. Good luck.

you dont have to be BAR certified when changing between engines that came in the same model and year.

So I took it to the BAR place yesterday so they could take a look at it. Basically after they had it for two hours they told me that since I don't know what the engine came out of and they couldn't figure it out they would smog it like it was the gts. But I'm still missing parts for it so they can't do it yet. I was told they could source parts for me and if they couldn't find them they would get me exempt from it but they aren't willing to do it if I don't know what my engine came out of.

I think the guy who sold me the engine got it sent over from japan instead of taking it from some car here. I shot him a text but I don't think he is gonna respond. There has to be a way to identify what this engine came out of...

The full VIN plate will. Usually starting with JT2AE... etc.

Ill try looking again but when I saw a plate like that under where the headers connect to the block it looked like it was too faded and scratched to read.

it doesnt matter what the engine came out of. you need all the smog equipment that originally came with gts corolla that year. the REF should have given you a printout with everything they would check for ie.. EGR, ECT sensor etc... they should also tell you what else they check like timing, idle etc...
