So a while back I got a flat and had to remove the wheel to swap the tire,. Turns out it took 2 weeks and when I finally got it swapped, I was too excited to go drive that I didn't realize the lug nut key was still on the wheel and not on the socket I was using to tighten the lug nut and took off driving in my rolla,. I realised I lost it when I was cleaning up and noticed the socket was bare without the key , usually it comes with the socket but this time it stayed on the wheel and lost it on my lil drive,. Now I have another flat and without the key!

Tried using autozonez emergency lug nut remover but the once size that fits the lug is too big to fit in between my wheel and lug,. So my question is what other options do I have,?

Please help it's driving me mad I can't drive my rolla :|

I've sin itdone on YouTube but not sure what size or exactly how,. I have a 1/2breaker bar and loads of sockets,. But the size and how it should fit had me lost,.

So the size that fits the lug is a 22socket but my Rota wheels won't let the socket fit in between the spokes where the lug is,. They're watanabe wana be rotas lol

Thinking about welding a socket on the face of the lug then just twist it off ,?

get an IMPACT socket and hammer it on. It's a stronger material and should have no problem getting over the wheel lock. Might need to try a size smaller than normal lug

Put a old sock or piece of cloth in-between the socket and the lug nut before hammering it on. This will make it easier to get the lug nut out of the socket afterward. I lost my key once... it sucked.

The thing is the only socket that just barelly fits over the lug is too big to fit between the spokes and the opening where the lug is, the spoke blocks the socket,. I'll post a pic up soon

Idk if it's the fact that it's a size 13' rim or that's how the spokes are on this style

It's the rear wheel and it has 2 locks per Wheel since I didn't have a normal wheel lug to use at the time

Looks like the ole socket trick isn't going to work. The only thing I can think of at this point would be drilling or cutting a slot into it an using an impact driver. Both are less than ideal solutions. :(

Haven't seen that trick,. Kinda feels nice knowing these locks actually do the trick unlike many others, but yea I'm screwed,. You have any links to videos using this method

This is only something I would try as a last resort. Hopefully other people can chime in with other ideas.

This actually gave me a possibility,. I could notch off like a cross pattern and then find something that I can use to turn it off,. My lock has a nice gap between the center hub and the outer rim I can use for leverage,. Dam this is getting tricky but for sure there has to be a way,. What sux even more is that the other side of the axle also has the same locks so I'm going to have to do the same,. I'm still thinking about welding a socket to it and turn it off but I don't have a welder

Hey what if I slap on some epoxy putty Inside the lock lug and slap on a normal lug to it let it dry a day and could it possibly be strong enough to let me turn out the lock lug using the normal lug with epoxy bonding them together,? :lol:

That would be one hell of an epoxy.... jb weld MIGHT do it.... but I would think that smooth surface would be an issue.

Then I guess the only trick would be to weld anything that will fit and I can just wrench it off,.

So the lug wrench just barely taps the wheel locks,. And snugly fits in the cavity where the lugs are, I mean its a nice air tight fit, what if I torch the lug wrench and get it hot then hammer it on to slide on the lock, let it cool,. Will it grip the lock or stay in its expanded form,? I think when it cools it will grip the lock right,?

These are the same size, took this one from the front Set, car came with different locks for front and back, why idk,. Image
This is the lug wrench I'm thinking about torching , see how it has a snug fit in the lug holes, other sockets are too fat and the spokes block the socket from entering,. But even with hammering it hard it won't bite as much,.

you gotta use a Taiwan made socket that has all the little teeth inside , pick a size that the teeth will land on lug nut then with hammer hit it hard just to sink the teeth to the lugnut then use youre tool top loosen at the same time putting pressure to the tool so Taiwan socket can stay on lugnut evenly , then try too loosen.... don't know how else too say it lol , good luck

I've tried it but the only size that's a bit bigger than the lug is a 22mm,. And the sockets too big to fit through the spokes of my wheels,. I'm looking Into thin wall sockets

I used a cheap walmart 4 way to do this.

find the one that fits the hole on the wheel and hammer it on, not all the way, just enuff to break it loose. Take off the 4 way before you get the lug all the way off or its gonna be more PITA.
BTW, i didnt use a regular ball peen, BFH is required.

either you can brute force it off, or just spend the $10 per wheel at the wheel shop

Had to use a thin walled 7/8,. Sanded it down a bit since it just barely scrapped in alone,. Banged it on with a padded mallet then used my foot to add my Weight to the 1/2 drive socket wrench,. Keept doing it for just a short while and out it came,.

Now just to get it off the socket haha thanx a lot guys for the help,. Bet this thread will help another with this mess,.

When I did it I just threaded it on about a half inch then tapped the socket with a hammer. That is why I suggested the cloth because it makes it easier for the socket to slide on and off.

I couldn't tell how deep or even if the socket slid over the lock since it just barely and I mean barely scrapped through the gap where the lock was,. I'll try the cloth with the second lock,. All I did to get it off the socket was flip it facing down,. Got a flat head and placed it through the 1/2drive on the socket and placed it along the rim of the lock and hammered it off gently while turning in a cross pattern to pop it out, have a second person hold the rim of the socket along a sturdy metal frame or a vice works best while hammering the flathead
