I tried searching for this info but was unable to find anyone that kept the PS after removing their A/C

87 GT-S with factory air that currently doesn't work....... I want to remove the A/C to get the weight off the front of the car and clean up the engine bay a bit but would like to keep the power steering (mainly because I don't have the funds or time to replace the rack right now) if I pull the compressor and condenser along with all the associated lines do I need to do anything else?

Also anyone know what the correct sized belt would be for this setup? I tried two local parts stores and all they could tell me was that the belt would be a 5-rin design and that I would have to measure it with a piece of string to match it up because neither place had a listing for a GT-S without air but with PS.

Yea you pretty much take off the A/C parts and put on a smaller belt just to drive the power steering pump. You can leave the evaporator and plug the lines going into the firewall, unless you want to take your entire dash apart.
The belt you have with PS and A/C should be about 41" and the belt you need once you take off the compressor is 36".

Thank you Grant. I was just trying to avoid the hassle of multiple trips to the parts store and the measuring albatross. That answers my question. I'll probably just leave the evaporator and plug the lines like you mentioned but pull the rest. Eventually I'll swap to a manual rack as well. Thanks for your help.
